Colourful stripes

Our stylist Rikke Wackerhausen tells Boozt how to add stripes to your wardrobe this summer. While they are a timeless, classic look, this season's stripes have gone a little crazy and are multi-coloured and multi-directional, so more is definitely more. Here’s how to wear them now.

While Coco Chanel, Brigitte Bardot, and many more movie stars are synonymous with the classic Breton stripe for its chic, easy-to-wear status, for spring-summer 2022 you’ll find many more striped variations out there. You can't be afraid of overdoing it from the vertical to horizontal, the subtle and statement stripe, the pyjamas stripe, and the big color splash stripes. So just let the stripes lead the way and have fun.

”I love wearing my striped pyjamas in the summertime, it’s just so chic and easy to throw on with a pair of flats, sneakers, or sandals.”

Styling tips:

+ Usually, striped tops are the easiest way to wear the trend, but this season stripes on blazers, trousers, or a skirt go beyond the classic Breton top.

+ Stripes on stripes is always a good option but whether they are vertical, horizontal, or diagonal it doesn’t matter. Just mix all the way and don’t match!

+ Try bright colours like vivid blue or red with white and clash with rainbow brights on a larger stripe.

+ The striped maxi dress is a hot summer choice. Wear sandals or sneakers.

+ A subtler way of wearing stripes is going vertical with a skirt and pairing it with a white t-shirt or picking out a subtle stripe detail on the sleeve or hemline.

+ For those who don’t like to wear stripes, why not add a striped accessory like a clutch or pair of heels instead.

”The striped shirt is also a big-time favourite of mine, especially a little oversized. Just add a great necklace or two, sleeves rolled up and you’re ready to rock!”
