Lots of yoga, a low-sugar diet, and breathwork are how yoga teacher and editor Sarah Wilson stays healthy and happy inside and out.
As well as being the Editor-in-Chief of The Edit on Boozt.com, Sarah is a certified 200hr Vinyasa yoga teacher based in Malmo, Sweden. She has been practicing yoga for over a decade and has been teaching for the last 18 months. Her passion is to guide and hold space for students to explore their bodies, minds, and hearts through movement and breath. Through her classes, she helps to cultivate well-being, compassion, and awareness on and off the mat.
A quick yoga session and meditation. I find just half an hour on my mat is all I need to give myself energy for the rest of the day. Then I do 10 minutes of meditation just to cultivate some inner calm. A nourishing breakfast, a quick shower and I’m out the door.
It’s simple. I wash my face with a foaming cleanser, then I use an antioxidant serum, sunscreen, and a tinted moisturiser. I have good intentions of doing a face massage with a Gua Sha, but that only happens once a week!
“I’ve just started meditating again and use this great app called ‘Headspace’ which offers guided meditations and teaches you mindfulness in just a few minutes a day. It really has made a difference to my overall well-being.”
Very healthy as I’ve been a Type 1 diabetic for nearly 30 years. I eat a low-sugar, low carbohydrate mostly vegetarian diet, but I do love to bake, so I’ve had to come up with low-sugar recipes that satisfy that passion, without upsetting my diabetes.
Being a passionate yogi. It’s mostly vinyasa that keeps me in shape, but I do love to run, do HITT classes, and hike. There’s nothing like exercising outside in the sunshine, so I move all my workouts to the outdoors in the Swedish summer.
A recent breathwork class made me realise its restorative powers. I use smaller breathing exercises like Box Breathing, Alternate Nostril Breathing, and Lion’s Breath to calm me down in stressful times.
Regular facials and full body massages. I have a sauna in my house, but I do love to go to the one by the beach in Malmo, so I can dip in the sea afterward. Year-round! Relaxing in a hot aromatherapy bath at the end of the day is pure bliss too.
So many things. But if I include movement, eat healthily, sleep well, and keep stress to a minimum it always makes me feel good and have the energy to live a happy life.
