Microwaving can cause uneven heating of the milk, which can result in serious burns in the baby’s mouth (microwaving may also alter the composition of the breast milk). • Clean and sterilize all parts that come into contact with the breast and breast milk before the first use. • Only use parts recommended by Medela with your breast pump. • If pumping is uncomfortable or painful, turn off the breast pump and release the breast shield by placing a finger between the breast and the shield, then remove the breast shield from the breast. • Although it may feel a bit uncomfortable the first time you use a breast pump, it should never be painful. If you are unsure about the correct breast shield size, visit www.medela.se or consult a lactation consultant or breastfeeding specialist who can help you find the right fit. NOTE! Be careful when handling bottles and other components: • Plastic bottles and other parts become brittle after freezing and may break if dropped. • Bottles and other parts may be damaged if handled improperly (e.g., dropped, screwed on too tightly, or knocked over). • Do not use breast milk from bottles or other components that show signs of damage.
