About the brand
Maidenform was the first company to make modern bras. Established in 1922 by Ida Cohen Rosenthal and her husband, they sold Charleston dresses demanding a flat-chested look - achieved with an uncomfortable 'bandeaux'. As Ida disliked the way their dresses fit women with flat chests, she designed a new lingerie to support and accentuate the woman's natural figure: two 'cups' with shoulder straps and a ribbon fastened in the back. As the popularity of their new lingerie grew, they focused on the bras - now called Maidenform. Today, Maidenform designs and manufactures a wide range of lingerie products including bras, panties and shapewear.
