Vacation prep

Whether you are jetting off to a faraway tropical island, camping in the forest, or soaking up culture in the city, Boozt stylist Ragna Jonasdotter gives her top styling tips and advice on how to pack for your holiday.

Beach vibes

The key to beachside dressing is to pack plenty of tried-and-tested wardrobe staples that you know you feel great in and that will suit lots of occasions. Whether you are jetting off on a boat cruise for the day, having an impromptu surf lesson, or sliding from the beach-to-bar you need to have it covered. Don’t forget to have some fun. Splashy, sun-soaked prints are great for daytime lounging and a beach holiday is a perfect opportunity to wear them.

+ Beach dress. It will always look chic to slip on over your bikini to go from beach to bar.

+ An oversized shirt. A fantastic alternative to the traditional beach cover-up. Wear it open over your bikini when you’ve had enough sun on your shoulders. It’s an easy cover-up to slip on for lunch.

+ Oversized tote in a natural material. It will fit everything you need for a day at the beach and beyond.

+ Classic sunglasses. A must for beachside chic and essential if you bring your book to the sunbed.

+ Sunscreen is a must, so make sure it has a high factor, and don’t forget your lips, as they need an SPF too.

City slicker

Comfort is a key concern when you are roaming the city streets, but there are no excuses for not winning some style points along the way. Go for a selection of easy elegant pieces in tonal shades that you can mix and match and remember layering is key here. Throw in a handful of unexpected pieces like a standout sundress that you can pair back with a sporty sneaker or utilitarian sandal. Jewelry and hair accessories are simple but effective finishing touches.

+ Wear a pop of colour with a shorts suit. You can have that summer feeling but still be dressed for the city. It’s perfect to have a blazer with you so that you can wear it instead of a jacket.

+ Always have a hairclip handy. When the heat of the sun bears down, it’s a relief to put the hair up in a clip.

+ A cross-body bag will keep you hands-free, but if you need more space,  a handy shopper is practical and will look great too.

+ Flat shoes with an open toe are both comfortable and stylish, and they will keep the feet cool in the summer heat.

+ Cotton-blend sweater. Lightweight enough to be layered over a camisole or tank top if you feel chilly.

Countryside staycation

Whether it’s your summer house, a romantic spa break, or if you’re just hanging out at home, you want your country dressing to be relaxed and comfortable for your staycation. While those fuss-free pieces will always look and feel great in a rural setting, it’s nice to up the luxe factor and add some unexpected colour to your outfits.

+ A colourful knit not only brightens up those summer evenings but will be comfortable and warm for those chilly nights.

+ Classic clogs are stylish for hanging out at home and are easy to take on and off when you walk around the garden.

+ A matching set. A linen short set will look polished yet comfortable.

+ Nail polish. It’s always lovely to have a few shades to choose from as you have more time to paint nails on vacation.

Outdoor adventure

Whether you are going for a short hike in the nearby woods or are planning a far-flung adventure in fjords, when it comes to hiking, camping, or doing anything in the great outdoors you need to be practical, but it doesn’t mean you can’t look stylish at the same time. The weather can change in an instant, so it’s all about being prepared with your clothes so you don’t get caught out.

+ It’s all about layers. Think the same as winter, a base, mid, and outer layer and you will keep the right temperature whatever the weather.

+ Hiking sneakers. Always have good shoes when you’re in the great outdoors and on varied terrain. Pain in your feet is the worst.

+ Cap. You don’t want to think about your hairstyle or the sun in your eyes when you are trekking up a mountain.

+ A jacket with good pockets. A packable jacket that is warm with functional details will be a lifesaver.

+ A cosy sweater in a lighter colour. Go for one with long arms to keep the mosquitoes away and in a light colour for the heat.
