The ideas behind Børge Mogensen’s almost 70-year-old J45 dining chair seem completely topical and in line with current trends. Through its use of wood, the chair reflects the shapes found in nature while combining stylish design with a high degree of user comfort. This was an almost revolutionary idea when FDB Møbler launched J45 in 1950. The chair also stands out from what Børge Mogensen later became known for: slightly square chairs and sofas. The characteristic backrest, which forms an organic shell, is angled backwards and slightly springy, making the chair extremely comfortable. It is an iconic piece of furniture that reflects the interplay between nature and design, while also exemplifying the early works of one of Denmark’s most
