Ostindia, jonka ruotsalaiset ovat äänestäneet vuosisadan astiastoksi, on peräisin kadonneesta aarteesta. Vuonna 1746 Göteborgin edustalla haaksirikkoutui laiva, joka oli matkalla Kiinasta kotiin. Lasti pelastettiin, ja posliinilautasen sirpale päätyi Rörstrandin kaappiin, jossa pomo Knut Almströmin vaimo näki sen eräänä päivänä ja lausui siivekkäät sanat: "Knut, sinun pitäisi tehdä tälle jotain." Vuonna 1932 kiinalaisesta sirpaleesta tuli malli uudelle Rörstrandin astiastolle, jonka kuvio on nyt jo klassikko.
