What does all the certification mean?

The meaning of certifications can vary depending on the certification itself. Most certifications deal with the integrity of materials used in products (i.e. Global Organic Textile Standard, Responsible Wool Standard, Leather Working Group…), other certifications deal with recycling (i.e. Global Recycling Standard, Recycled Content Standard...), some deal with social compliance (i.e. BSCI, SMETA…), and so on. In most cases, certifications prove a sustainable superiority of a product, as all information provided is checked and verified by the certification body.

To make it easier for consumers, whenever one of our products is certified, we always introduce what the present certification covers. That information can also always be found online. We invite all customers that are curious to know more about certifications to directly refer to the certification’s website.

We use certifications, as it is impossible for us, or anyone else in the fashion supply chain, to trace back and verify all processes that are used during the production of a product. Certifications allow us to improve our traceability and transparency on the certified products. They also help customers to easily make responsible decisions.

Please note that a certification is different from a claim. Claims can be made by anyone, with no back up information. Claims can be misleading and a sign of greenwashing.
