From slingbacks to mules, stilettos, and pumps, here are the new-season party shoes to add to your wish list and how to wear them.

Stilettos & Pumps

These are one of the best styles of shoes for special occasions and give an instant polished party look no matter what you are wearing. Opt for classic stilettos but with a twist to prevent them from looking like something you’d wear to the office. Keep the style simple with a traditional point-toe pump, then look for unique details like bows, diamante, and cool cut-outs to add an edge to your party shoe. Straps will up the style factor even further.

Strappy sandals

These attention-grabbing party shoes are perfect for just about every celebration and style during the warmer months. From delicate single straps and chunky ankle cuffs to wrap-around ribbons and bands, ankle strap sandals come in so many varieties. While the flat version is always more comfortable, slim stilettos or a thick, block style will add height from the heel, helping to lengthen your foot and stop wrapped ankles from looking heavy. All styles will look smart with occasionwear dressing, and don’t be afraid to go for colour this season as summer is the time to have fun with your outfits.

Slingbacks

While you may think of the late Queen of England, these not quite sandal slingbacks or a pump are a classic shoe silhouette and feel a little less formal than a full-on pump which makes them great for all occasions. And the fact that they have thrown off their dowdy image this season makes them an even more irresistible, modern shoe. With feminine details like the delicate strap and exposed heel, they will look great with everything from skirts to trousers, dresses, and suits so there’s basically a pair for every gathering you go to.

Mules & slip-ins

Comfy, stylish, and versatile, what’s not to love about a shoe that can go from boardroom to a stylish wedding with ease? Whether you go for a flat-form version or a heeled mule they are super easy to wear. Heeled open-toed mules will add extra height and look great for a date night with a maxi or midi dress and if you love a more relaxed mule, the flat version will always look chic with your summer outfits. Block heels will instantly dress up jeans and wide-leg trousers any day of the week and don’t forget the details like ruffles, and diamante which will add a dressy edge to those more formal occasions.

White sneakers & ballet flats

Let’s face it, when you’re on your feet all day at a wedding, by the time it gets to the first dance, your feet are over it. Say hello to ballet flats and sneakers. There are few footwear styles that have as much lasting power as these two. While the ballet flat might not be the usual shoe choice for party season they are always chic and understated, it’s just a matter of the type you go for and how you style them. Thanks to the dressier versions with embellishments, they have become even more party appropriate. And the sneaker, again they have got fancier with ribbons instead of laces and some even bear jewels for extra sparkle. Leather sneakers are always smarter and the key to pairing seamlessly with your outfit is to go for white and don’t go too chunky, especially if you are wearing a delicate dress.
