Instructions for application of Gel iQ Gel Nail Strips Read through all the instructions and the safety information carefully before you start. For best results, be sure to follow the steps below carefully. Important NB! Gel iQ Gel Nail Strips are very sensitive to light. For that reason, when applying the strips, avoid taking an open pack outside or leaving it in direct sunlight indoors. Preparation • Remove any old nail polish using remover that is free from acetone, oil, colour or perfume. • File all your nails to the same length and gently push back your cuticles, if needed. • Wash your hands thoroughly and dry them well. Choose a strip for each nail Hold the sheet of strips over your nails to choose the size that best fits each nail. Bend the sheet to see more easily which size fits best. It is important not to choose too large a strip that may end up outside your actual nail. Clean your nails Clean your nails with the cleansing wipes supplied. Apply the strip NB! Avoid touching the sticky surface that will attach to your nail. 1. Use an orange stick to carefully lift the rear edge of the strip. 2. Apply the strip close to the cuticle, but not on it, and press firmly. Press down along the centre of the nail first, and then out towards the sides to avoid air bubbles. Seal the strip Use the orange stick or your fingers to press along the edges and completely cover the nail with the strip. Trim the strip close to the tip of your natural nail. Cure Cure for 60 seconds using a Depend Gel iQ UV/LED lamp. (If the lamp is not set for 60 seconds, you can change this by pressing and holding the start button until it resets to 60 sec.) NB! Optimum curing is achieved by holding the lamp 10 cm above your nails. This ensures optimal flexibility and durability. To finish Smooth out the edge of the strip by filing it in line with the edge of the nail and removing any sharp corners/edges. However, avoid filing the surface of the strip. Extratips Buffing If you have uneven nails, you can buff them prior to application. Use one of Depend’s nail buffers to even out the surface of your nails. Start with the coarse side and end with the fine side to ensure a smooth, even surface. Wipe away any nail dust with a cleansing wipe and allow your nails to dry fully before applying the strips. Cleaning and exfoliation The best way to prepare your nails and cuticles is by cleaning and exfoliating them. Use Depend Cuticle Peeling for nails and cuticles. Massage our Cuticle Peeling product into your cuticles and nails to remove dead skin cells and dirt. Wait 1 minute. Rinse well and allow your nails to dry fully before applying the strips. Top coat Once all the strips have been applied and you are happy with them: finish with a coat of Gel iQ Top Coat to help the strips last longer. Removing Gel iQ Gel Nail Strips Be sure to follow the steps below carefully to gently remove the strips and avoid damaging your nails and cuticles. Products to be used: • Gel iQ Remover Oil • Warm water (approx. 40°C) • A bowl (approx. 2 litres) that can take your whole hand. Alternatively, you can use a washbasin. What to do: Apply Remover Oil 1. Apply plenty of Remover Oil to the fingers of one hand, along the cuticle and over the whole nail. Massage the oil into each nail for about 20-30 seconds. 2. Fill a bowl or washbasin with warm water (approx. 40°C). NB! The water should not be so hot that it is scalding. 3. Lower your fingers into the warm water until they are all submerged. Wait for about 3 minutes. The warmer the water, without it being scalding, the better the effect. 4. After about 3 minutes, you can carefully begin scraping away the strip from the area of new growth closest to your cuticle. Use an orange stick or one of your other nails. Keep your hand in the water as you do this. 5. Scrape gently and allow the water to penetrate the join between the strip and your nail. This will gradually cause the strip to loosen and you can remove it like flaking paint. Be gentle, and loosen the strip little by little while keeping your fingers in the water. Take extra care at the tip of your nail where the nail is driest and can easily break. Be sure not to take off any of your own nail when scraping off the strip. The strip tends to be most firmly attached towards the tip of the nail. 6. For best results, check the water temperature. Keep checking the temperature of the water during removal to ensure it stays around 40°C. You can either add more warm water or replace the cooled water with fresh warm water.
